How often does HP update their laptops. I mean how ofter do they change the upgrades and such. Reason I ask is I will most likely buy the top of the line processor, video card, ram offered for the dv2000t. And I would be pretty upset if in like a week they offered this laptop with a better video card.
I noticed that a week ago I could buy the dv2000t with a tv tuner (external) and now they dont offer it. Do you think that its possible for HP to add a better video card to the dv2000t or is it unlikely.
I really dont care about the processor... 2.0ghz core duo2 is more than good enough for my needs... im just worried about the video card

They probably wont update anything on the dv2000t since it has been only out in the market for about 5 months. If any updates expect when Vista is released or when Intel updates the platform to Santa Rosa next year.
In any case, you will have 21day return period. So, if they do update(unlikely) you can still change your mind. Also note you will also have a 30 day price protection. If HP decreases or increases the proce you can ask for the difference be credited to your account. -

Well the Geforc GO 7200 runs pretty hot inside the laptop now, so I doubt they will add an even more powerful graphics card.

what kind of updates can we expect for vista? Just ram, processor?
Will the current video card be ok with Vista?
Also isnt vista suppose to come out in like Feb? Also when it comes out do you think we will have to pay extra to get out PC/notebook with Vista. I dont think they will all out get rid of XP -

/\ thanks
Interesting... I may just wait the few extra months. If vista is comming out so soon I would rather get a legal copy of it.
I have every legal copy of XP.... so if i dont like vista i can always change it to XP.
Thanks again -
Here's some more info on the coupons...

I revisit Fry's to feel the heat difference between DV6000Z with MK-36/6150 and DV2000Z with TL-52/6150. The X2 feel so hot vs MK-36 almost can't feel any temp difference. They both are in full speed. Without comparison, I can't notice how cool MK-36 will be. Now single core still worth to buy.

I wouldn't bet on HP updating the dv2000t line anytime soon. With the release of the Core 2 duo's, HP did a refresh offering the new processors as well as a matte screen option. Also, they seem to have upgraded to 667Mhz DDR2 RAM (at least on the C2D systems). As for the system running hot, I definitely haven't noticed this with the Go 7200 graphics chip. It's actually one of the cooler notebooks I've used, even for long periods of time.
As to the power of the graphics chip, I've been running Vista on it nearly exclusively (lately RC2 x64), and there's no problem running with Aero enabled (modded drivers are needed to recognize the graphics chip though). It's definitely not blazing fast for gaming, but I've loaded a number of games under Vista (GTA:SA, HL2, The Movies, etc.) and they all worked fine, even at native resolution. The only game that didn't work was Scarface, but that is a known problem under Vista, nothing to do with the graphics chip. I believe HP has stopped offering the external TV tuner option because they have an ExpressCard TV tuner available instead.
If you're not in a huge rush, the free Vista upgrade coupons should be rolled out in a couple of weeks. If you get the system with XP MCE you'll get a free upgrade to Vista Home Premium, and if you get the system with XP Pro you'll get a free upgrade to Vista Business.
Hope this helps. -
I agree it runs pretty hot from the start. Then when you get dust in the vents it runs really hot -

thanks everyone!
I guess ill wait... i also read something about the dv2000t's screen... some wierd name like CDD or something... Ill just wait till after x-mas and hopefully HP will fix that screen prob and i can get vista also -

No, it doesnt get uncomfortably hot, just hot. And it is worth the 30 dollar upgrade, it's basically the difference from med to high, or low to med on most games.

Geforce 7200 does aero just fine, but since nVidia only has beta drivers for it, it slows down the system quite a bit. I am not sure if this will change, but I can tell you that I will be the first in line to complain about nVidia if they don't release a good driver for Vista.
