How accurate is HP's estimate ship date?

I dug up some old topics stating that HP tends to overestimate the ship date and most people actually end up getting their laptops before the ship date. Does this still hold true?

I also heard you shouldn't bother upgrading to 2 day shipping because for whatever reason once the laptops ship out they get to your doorstep in 2-3 days anyways.

Some first person experience would be greatly appreciated.

 

I'd say yes to both. After being on this forum for a little over a year, and having made multiple purchases from HP, almost all of the reports and my own experience is that items are usually received early or at worst, on time. That's the one (and probably only) pleasant experience about dealing with HP.

 

My Envy's estimate was the 8th of March. It shipped on the 4th. I ordered with 2 day shipping. However the CS said that the delivery estimate of the 10th is when I should expect my laptop because that would be 2 days after the estimate date. What I believe is that once your laptop is built HP's shipping process takes the same time regardless of your shipping. But I think they build ur laptop earlier if you have 2 day shipping. Thats my feeling.

 

Your estimate was 8th, but they shipped on the 4th.... but its not coming until the 10th even though it should show up at your doorstep by the 6th or 7th?

 

With free shipping, your laptop will stay in Alaska for 1 day. 2 day is definitely 1 day faster than free shipping. It also seems delivery at early morning instead of noon.

 

For what it's worth my estimated ship date was Feb 25th and I had my laptop in my hands the day before thats with missing the fedex guy once.

 

mine was supposed to ship on the 17th then the 3rd then the 6th...not sure when ill get mine but as for my experience with the shipping times, just add 30 to 45 days. thats with the envy i purchased and now the elitebook.

edit: while i find it extremely annoying that HP doesn't just email me or call me and say why or when it is realistically going to ship i do understand there will be delays with new products.

 

My G62t custom build shipped 1.5 weeks before the estimated ship date from China, and I got it 5 days later.

 

Holy crap! Someone got heir order delayed by a month while someone else had theirs bumped up by a week and a half?! How inconsistent.

 

probably a backorderd part. i heard the 5830 had some shipping delays

i just ordered mine on the 5th. supposed to ship on mar. 16. hopefully it'll ship sooner. finger's crossed

I'm going crazy hearing about you guys and your early shipping dates XD

Mine is suppose to ship on the 15th and since I herd HP is likes to over estimate the build date I've been checking the status like twice an hour XD

 

Mine was due to ship on the 11th. It left two days ago, but wandered into Alaska and has been there ever since.

 

My first dm3t order was supposed to be built by march 5th. It was shipped and I received it on march 4th. It shipped the 2nd, so yeah, it reached me in 2 days on free shipping.

My current dm3t order says it will be built by march 17th; I believe it will ship later today (friday) or maybe over the weekend, monday probably being the latest. It's highly likely I'll receive it before next friday.

 

min estimated ship date was march 16, 2010. purchased on march 5, 2010.

it shipped on March 12, 2010

Okay mine finally shipped yesterday. estimate ship date is 18th. I really hope I get to sooner though o.0;
