So I finally went to HP website today and got a DV6500t, and this was my configuration with the money my brother gave me. How are they in terms of just the computer itself.

I do a lot of Adobe photoshoping (web designing, graphic, images, portraits), tons of Video editing, maybe a little of gaming, watch tons of DVDs on my computer, surf the web, type, tons of music playing, and more.

So based on that, how are the specs I got:

    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    - Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.40 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
    - 15.4" WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    - 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 128MB (dedicated) NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS with 767MB shared
    - HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader + Webcam + Microphone
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AG N Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
    - 160GB 5400RPM
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

So what do you guys think?

well, i wont be getting into half life etc. the farthest ill go for gaming is counterstrike and starcraft 2 when it comes out.

    1) but for photoshopping, videos, and hard core (well, slightly) video editing, is this enough?
    2) I will be running an HP w2207 22inch monitor through the HDMI-DVI port of my dv6500t. Will I be able to run the external monitor at its native resolution of 1650x1050 at the same time while the dv6500t run its own screen resolution of 1280x800?
    3) Or will the external monitor kick back down to the resolution of 1280x800 (same as my laptop)?

Your machine will be able to run Half Life 2 and CS Source and many current games. Bioshock and the newer high graphics games you won't be able to run. For everything else you have a good laptop config there.
