Before I go ahead and pull the trigger, I was wondering how the sound is in these. HP has them listed as Integrated Altec Lansing stereo speakers. I don't need anything special, I just don't want those really terrible washed out speakers that so many laptops seem to have.
So how's the sound in these things?

The Altec Lansing speakers are a notch above what you'll normally find in a laptop. In my opinion, they're among the best in mainstream systems (along with the harmon/kardon speakers used in most Toshiba laptops).

They are good they dont go very loud but decent but the quality is good. My old zv5000's still beat them out by far in loudness and quality which is sad because that laptop is 4 years old.

Well are you getting a dv7z or dv7t the dv7t has a built in subwoffer while the dv7z does not.

Yes the old HP's had JBL Pro speakers which was very good. Not sure why they switched to the mediocre Altec Lansings. Though its still above compared to other notebooks.

they work for me. even with the subwoofer on the dv7t there isnt great bass. i have to plug in my headphones to hear all the hardcore bass booms in the music i listen to.

Well i just got my dv6500t back from a freind for a day. Now i understand when my mom said the speakers were " tinny " they sound like crap i think.
How are the speakers in a HP Pavilion dv7t?
