I ordered my first laptop an HP zd8000 with the 530 P4 3.0ghz. Now I see they offer the 630 now for what I paid for the 530 just 5 days ago. I mainly will use this laptop for mobile gaming and web surfing. Should I cancel the 530 and re order with the 630? Or is the difference a case of those no see'ums? I know the 630 will be compatiable with the 64 bit apps in the future. How concerned should I be? The laptop will ship by the 22nd of this month. Thanks for any input.

You can cancel if you want. 32 bit is going to be around for a while.

I would go with the 630... reason... the 530 runs a 1mb l2 cache, while the 630 runs a 2mb l2. Yes the 630 is 64bit, and will be able to support the new windows 64bit os, but how long before it is commonplace? Depends on how long you want to keep the laptop. I'll be ordering my 630 end of the month.

    Cheers :hp:

That's good to hear, some good luck came your way. I would not concern myself one bit with 64 bit. Well first of all, I have a 32 bit processor so I can't even think of 64 bit OS's or applications. Anyways, lots of people have bought or are still buying computers with 32 bit chips and won't replace their computers for a few years, so 32 bit will still be around for a while.

Another thing to note is that 6xx series can reduce its clock speed unlike the 5xx series, so you won't have to be next to a blast furnace every day.
