I have a zv5000 (so it is old but on perfect condition) which really slowing down everyday more. I had done clean up, virus scan, and Defrag everything I can but is still slow. So I was thinking maybe is time to reset it and reinstall window xp but the problem is there it seen like the computer just want to add a 2nd window version and keep the old one. So can anyone explain how i can reset the harddrive back to new and reinstall a only and fresh version of window.

Use your restore disks, which you should have received from HP.

When the Windows install CD asks you which partition you want to install Windows on, there are options to delete old partitions, create new ones, format the partition you picked to install Windows on, etc. You want to quick format your existing Windows partition. Look more closely at the options it gives you and you'll see it.

You should make a new WinXP install CD with SP2 integrated if your CD predates SP2 (my zv5000z CD did):

Once you've done that, hold off on burning the CD and integrate the post-SP2 update pack from here:
    http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/
Use that to create a new CD image then burn the .iso image with your favorite CD burning software. Advanced users would do driver and application integration too but just getting the update pack has the best bang/buck.
