I want to get a dv5t but there are currently not any decent coupons and there have not been for some time. What's the deal with that? I tried amazon, but can't get the spec i want. Any suggestions?

Basically, i want all the goodies but right now on hp website its ridiciously expensive.

    Welcome to NBR!

What specs do you want and what is your price?
I know for pre built configurations it is unlikely you will get the good cpu's or N wireless. They are manily going for the RAM and HD space because that is what most consumers look for.

The dv5t has been a big seller and HP doesn't want to drop the price. However, it should fall post Christmas. Perhaps, it will fall the most at that time of the entire year. Watch for it. Other options are using HP's Academic or Employee Purchasing Plans, if you are eligible (are you a student?) or Costco's site is also a little bit cheaper.

HP just added their free upgrade for 250 GB hard drive..

If the hp dv5t price drops after xmas would it lose it's free upgrades (free upgrade to 2 GB Ram and 250 GB hard drive, and free shipping)?

Also, I compared the HP's Academic or Employee Purchasing Plans Discount and it's cheaper than costco or executive discounts it seems (through a employer company) but costco has a two year warranty that comes with it.

you might want to check out NBR's bargain section.
If I remember correctly, HP just has some coupon available there.

If you use APP or EPP, configure a system and drop it in your cart, but don't complete the purchase. HP will then, likely shortly later, send you a one-time use, 5%, additional discount coupon. Beware that HP has been raising it's prices a little bit over the past few days, and that this is a strong signal that they are gearing up for a post-Christmas price-drop. You see, that way, they can claim an even "bigger discount," then if they did not raise up the prices at all (you see, the guys in the marketing dept. all learned this in MBA school, LOL). Anyway, I strongly recommend against buying HP till Dec 26 and then seeing what's happening. Everybody knows Dell is going to drop hard post Christmas and the American economy is in the dumps. HP will have to discount hard, I say this with a high probability.
