It takes longer for my new notebook to connect to the Wifi network here than it does for me to plug in a wireless PC card on the other notebook and get on the web...by the time the ZT had connected, I had already gotten email from two accounts and responded to two of them!

I have the Wifi and bluetooth option if that makes any difference...

It should only take a few seconds to connect once the unit is powered on. I had some trouble using the utility that came with my Fujitsu, so I removed it and just use the standard XP tool. What are you using?

    Silver5,

When you turn your ZT on, is the wireless already enabled or are you enabling wireless after your system has already bootup and in XP? On the NX7000 (HP Business model of the ZT series) if the wireless is already on at powerup, it gets a connection during bootup and therefore is ready to surf when you get into the OS. If you turn the wireless on afterwards (already in OS) it will take approx 30secs to 1min to connect. make sure it's always on by default & see if that helps.

Another thing you can try is to enable SSID Broadcasting on your accesspoint/wireless router. This will allow your ZT to see your network is bit easier so it doesn't have to search for the connection as long. But the only down side, is that anybody with a wireless card nearby will know that there's a wireless network in the area. There's a big debate on the web regarding turning the SSID Broadcasting on or off. Personally, I leave mine off, if anybody wants to find my network, let them work at it, why advertise the fact that you have one.

    Good Luck!
