I just got an NC8430 and these two decals are tacky as hell on this otherwise sleek and spotless laptop.

How can I remove them without scratching the case?

Peel off with fingernail, and then use goo-off or something to remove the residue?

I just scraped mine off with a fingernail and then cleaned the goo off with alcohol+elbow grease.

If that "Goo-Off" is the stuff I'm thinking of.... be very careful with it on plastic... very, very careful. It's the stuff I use on Cd's /DVD's that idiots write on with a perm marker from the second hand store when nothing else will work... and I apply it, let it sit for no longer than a second (really), then chase it with WD-40.

If your going to use it on something, you'd better test it on a place that won't show...

Better, safer option is to use WD-40, or better yet use "peanut butter"... Peanut butter being the safest thing to use... (really).

Another option, or a way to get pesky labels off is to use a blow dryer to heat the label to soften up the adhesive. Peel off label with fingernail, then use peanut butter to remove the left over adhesive. :D

Yep.... GOOF OFF upc 0-2349400005-9 4.5 oz.... that's the stuff....

Never tried it on a laptop, so proceed at your own risk. Used to us WD40 to remove old bumper stickers, and it actually work GREAT at removing the sticky film left behind by all kinds of labels and decals. Check it out on the net.

the best way to remove stickers from notebook surface or desktop is by using a heat gun.... or a hair dryer.

simple physics. heat + adhesive = butter consistency (easy to peel with no sign that it was ever there)

Just heat up the surface where the sticker is to a nice and hot (not too hot) temp, and peel.

    That's it.

P.S. Works great on the Windows COA (certificate of authenticity) stickers, i did a lot of OEM stuff for desktops and notebooks
