I'm starting to get really frustrated wondering if the 7950 is being used or not... as the frame rates are very similar (with medium graphics in BF3, it's a difference between 12-15fps and 20-25fps)...

Is there any program i can install that logs what the GPU speed was, or what gpu is being used? Maybe something that can overlay GPU speeds/GPU being used over the game?

On another note... i think i might have broken something... i can not detect the 7950 in any program anymore. I get the same performance (intel HD only) in any game i run, no matter if i set it to high performance or power saver in the "configure switchable graphics" option (and windows power settings set to high performance). How can i 100% force the GPU to run (so i can detect it in some system monitoring software???). I'm afraid my GPU is dead or something after running some stress/burn tests???

the program i have used to check is amd system monitor available from amd's website which will tell u if is running and what clock it is running at.

Did you try to upgrade drivers? that might cause the failure try rolling back to or reinstalling the original hp drivers.

there is no way the difference is only 10 fps in bf3. in "med" settings u should be able to get around 40 fps with the amd, and 20 fps with the intel.

one way i know for sure if the gpu is working or not would be to run 3dmark11 with high performance, plugged in, etc. if u go through all that and it still is giving u a low score, then u know ur card/drivers r bad

That program is great, i love that you can force it to stay up top.

I reinstalled windows all together, and now i don't have any mouse lag anymore! Games (i only had a chance to test with dirt 3) detect the GPU now too :]
