I'm looking at buying a new Compaq R4025 with the BrightView option. I like this laptop because it's reasonably priced and has a lot of features. How does the screen quality compare to others (acer, toshiba, dell ect.)?

It is a nice screen. Good contrast and the colors are tend to be true and more vibrant. The viewing angle is also good. You can go upto 160-170 degrees without having any problems reading the screen.

They are not as good as the Sony screens, but on the other hand are much better than either the Dell or Acer enhanced screens. They are more or less equivalent to a Toshiba trubright.

Remember though enhancd screens always have some amount of reflection due to the coating they apply.

Sony and Fujitsu tend to have the best notebook screens around, but other manufacturers are catching up.
