    Any tv I connect through the HDMI cable shows as generic pnp monitor. Some tv's will have a black screen and play sounds only. Some only play in super low resolution.

    The name is fairly normal actually, but not the quality you get. First of all, try a different cable. Secondly, update the display card driver.
    99% of the HDMI issues are fixed by that.
