That's probably an empty zip file then.
WinZip is built into Windows and has been since Windows XP.

Sounds like your file associations got messed up. Found the following on another site, hope it helps:

To restore the functionality, you need to do the following:

    1. Select the Start Menu, select Start->Accessories. Right click on the Command Prompt and select Run As Admin. You need to be admin to change the association. You will be prompted to enter your admin password. Enter it and press return.
    2. In the command line window, type in the following command

    assoc .zip=CompressedFolder

Now when you right-click on a zip file, you should see the familar extract menu again.

Maybe try restarting after performing the procedure and see if that does it.

    i found this:

Click Start, type regedit.exe and press Enter.
    Navigate to the following branch:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.zip

    Delete the sub-key named "UserChoice"

    Close Regedit.exe
    -------
i do everything but i really can't find the "UserChoice" part.

Maybe the quick and easy route would be to maybe download 7zip and install, this way you can open and zip files for free.
