When i was on vista i used orev's activation backup and restore whenever i made a clean vista install. Now when i got the windows 7 upgrade from HP i have no idea how to do the same. For now it's activated with the win7 home premium key on the upgrade dvd. Does anyone have any idea how to preactivate win7 hp?

As i understand 3 things are necessary for preactivation:

    1. SLIC 2.1 bios with key - Got it
    2. HP OEM certificate for win7 - Missing
    3. HP OEM-SLP key for win7 home premium - Missing i think

I guess i need the hp oem certificate and hp oem-slp key for win7 homepremium - can i contact HP for it or can a good sole on this forum email me a copy?

Your Win7 is not OEM version, that's why you don't have OEM cert/key available.

Your Win7 Upgrade license only permits to install over existing Vista installation, no clean installs ever. Preactivation of Win7 is only for those machines that come with Win7 from the factory. All other licenses are meant to activate online.

Sorry i thought when HP released the slic 2.1 bios with win7 certificates for my model i could somehow get my win7 upgrade preactivated like the vista install. I just have to do without the preactivation.

Hey i just noticed that win7 home premium allows you to create system images. On vista that feature was only on the business and ultimate versions.

That SLIC 2.1 bios is meant for those laptops that come with Win7 preinstalled in factory. Hardware stays otherwise same of course, it is backwards compatible and that's why it is listed for your model too.

Files you need are circulating in the internet but they cannot and will not be posted in here :)
