I just brought my dv1240ca recently, and im a novice when it comes to computers. I heard something about undervolting notebooks which lowers performances but improves battery life. i want longer battery life when using battery and regular performance when using ac. I heard something about chances of frying the motherboard if one uses Centrino Hardware Control wrong. i want to know any suggestions on how to undervolt my new lappie. thanks

Undervolt does not reduce perfomence , that is underclock .

Undervolt lowers the voltage to the CPU hence reducing the heat , yet there is a problem , too low volatage will make you CPU unstable underload .

The solution is to stress test after each step and see if all works well then go a step further and test again , I had a link to an undervolt tutorial in my 9300 review ( I don't remember the thread it is in notebookforums and I can't take credit for it so search it out here or at NF - its very simple ) .

Most recommended , the lower the CPU the better the results you'll get ..
