I have a vista dv9000t laptop. There are very annoying beeps on the quickplay items above the keys plus it is also in some programs too such as when i get new mail and the logitech setpoint software. I have disabled window sounds and it is still there. it is very annoying to have to remember to turn on mute before checking mail and just awful to change volume.

    Please help!!!!!

Not sure how is it with dv9000t, but you should be able to disable the beep sound in BIOS. If you can't find the option, update your BIOS to the latest version.

Is there any other way. I know nothing about bios or even how to access it and was always told you should never touch any settings on it. Just leave it alone. I will even try a registry setting if you can access those in vista.

Its only possible to disable the sounds from the BIOS. It is outside of the OS's control. To access the BIOS just tap F10 when you see the HP splash screen right after turning on the system. Dont worry, the BIOS doesnt have any settings the user can change that would ruin the system. It is pretty much locked up and only allows you to change a few minor settings like disable sounds, chainging boot order etc.

The BIOS only disables the blue quickplay buttons. Unfortunately the other sounds like the email won't be disabled. When I tried Vista on my DV2000t and I couldn't get my "Wakiki" audio driver working I pretty much disabled my soundcard and the only sounds I couldn't stop were the email and such sounds. I'm not sure why, probably some kinda of system sound that Windows never changes (would of spent the time to look but the other issues on the laptop exhausted me  ).

Are you talking about the system beeps. If so, these can be disabled in the device manager. Device Manager->View->Show Hidden devices->There should be an entry for 'Beep'. Right click and disable and you should not hear any of the annoying system beeps.

Turn the beeps off in the bios. You should have the latest F.16 bios.

Weird how everyone is trying to DISABLE the beeps while I'm trying to ENABLE them lol.

I did a clean install as soon as I got my HP and now my Quickplay or DVD buttons don't work (my rew, ff, play, stop, mute and vol buttons work though) and NONE of them beep.

Have you tried other Quick launch buttons?

Are you sure quickplay is installed correctly?

Yeah, the Quickplay nor DVD button on my remote doesn't work either.

I'm pretty sure it's installed correctly. I can launch it manually from All Programs, just not from the quicktouch button.

None of the buttons beep but all the video command ones work.

One version of the QLB drivers blocked the buttons from working due to a security hole.

Have you tried the latest or different QLB drivers?
