I have an hp 6000z series computer. I read on the pamphlet that you can play dvd's without logging on to windows. Can somebody tell me how does it function because when i press quickplay button, all it does is log on windows and then launch quickplay software.

Have you tried pushing the quickplay button before turning the computer on?

The direct boot function is only available with Windows XP. HP removed the directplay feature from Vista. So what you are noticing is by design.
