How is the build quality of this laptop? I saw 1 person said that the USB ports are very flimsy and it might break after using it for a few times. I am on the fence to buy this laptop. I am comparing this to Dell XPS 15. However, I like the HP better because it is not as bulky as XPS 15. It has a better GPU, and it is cheaper if the 33% coupon comes back. I always own Dell and never had an HP for personal use.

    Your comments are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You might have issues with the keyboard. I did, on two of them. There is a thread about it.

I think you meant the keyboard flex issue. If it is fixable, I think I am ok (of course not happy about it).

    Thanks

Mine was loose all around, and very noisy (loud clatter) when using the close end of the numeric keypad, and somewhere on the left side of the keyboard (I forgot exactly where). the noise was present on both units, even after I clipped the edges in and if you've read the thread you know about removing screws.

Mine doesn't flex at all. I guess it's hit or miss.

I think it's big matter of luck. Mine has little flex which is seen only if you concentrate on it. (doesn't concern me at all)
The build quality in my opinion is great!
The only problem which is as the first unnoticeable is little dents on the speakers bars. Like they need to be pushed a little with something heavy.
But again these two problems are unnoticeable.
    Pros : everything
Cons : fingerprints on the dark umber (but the color looks outstanding and I think it's better than the grey steel finish despite the fingerprints.)

Mine has no flex, but the A key was "stuck", with a bit of playing with it I managed to get it to normal, but it still acts up from time to time , though not much to be annoying.

Also, I had mine shipped with faulty speakers (it seems they soldered some contacts wrong, and only 2 of the speaker worked), but they fixed that in a day, and now everything works perfectly.

What do you mean very noisy? My keyboard doesn't have any flex, but there is still "clatter". Are island style keyboards supposed to be a lot quieter or something?

mine came in with no flex at all which im very happy about. that was the first thing i looked at when i opened it. the keys are somewhat noisy in particular my space bar squeaks sometimes. its hard to describe the noise. but i can live with it not a huge issue.
