    Hi you guys! I am new to this forum as this is my first post. I have been keeping tabs here for a few weeks now. There are some very knowledgeable people in these forums. Glad to finally be a member. I have a few questions that I can’t seem to find anywhere.

    Ok, I ordered my DV9000z from HP on 01/30/2007 with an estimated ship date of 02/08/2007. As of 9:15 am CST 02/09/2007 my status still reads “Order in production
    (Estimated to ship on February 8, 2007)” How long did you guys have to wait? Does it normally take HP a few days past its estimate to get the notebooks out of the door? My peripherals (LightScribe DVD’s, Targus Case) arrived promptly.

    Secondary questions:

    -Why does HP NOT support the 512mb NVIDIA geforce go 7600 GPU in their AMD dv9000z but they are available as an option in their INTEL dv9000t?

    -Why does HP NOT support the Pre-N wireless option on their INTEL dv9000t but is available as an option on their AMD dv9000z?

    -Can someone list the difference in features for Quickplay versions 1.xx, 2.0, 2.1, 2.3, 3.0? I know this I irrelevant since 3.0 is standard, but it would be nice to know which features were added.

    -How does HP’s expresscard TV Tuner work? The “help Me decide” note says that it is now a hybrid analogue and digital HD capable tuner, but how does it connect to the cable service? And what the heck is an IR receiver/Blaster??

    Any help to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Well here’s the specs to the laptop that I ordered.

    *Windows Vista Home Premium (Now, I want the 64-Bit Ultimate edition)
    * AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-60(2.0GHz/1MB cache)
    * 17.0 inch WSXGA BrightView Widescreen (1680x1050)
    * 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
    * HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
    * 2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    * 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    * LightScribe DVD+/-RW with Double Layer
    * 802.11 pre-n WLAN and Bluetooth
    * HP Expresscard TV Tuner for Windows Vista Notebook
    * High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    * Microsoft(R) Works 8.0
    * System Recovery DVD w/Windows Vista Home Premium

    FINAL PRICE: $1845.99 + tax + shipping.

    BTW, what can I expect from my Vista Machine (when it finally arrives?)

    1) The first notebook i ordered was (dv6000z) i ordered on Dec. 15 sceduled for Jan 8th to ship. it shipped that day. Then i ordered my dv6000t, that one shipped 2 days before it should have.

    Definitely call them and ask whats up.

    2) I'm sure someone could answer this better than i. I seriously doubt its any technical incompatibility. i think its just money. You want a nice video card? well, youre gonna have to pony up for the better more expensive processor first.

    3) No idea

    4) I dont use quickplay, cant answer that.

    5) Didnt get the tuner. An ir reciever is for the remote control they give you.
    I can only imagine that the card literally has coax jack sticking out of it like the other tv tuner cards i've seen for desktops. or i've seen ones for laptops that have s-video (analog) and DVI

    6) expect an initial 'wow'. then headache.

    If your #2 answer is true then that truly does suck. That would suggest that Intel and Nvidia are in bed together.

    Why would I need an ir blaster? I thought that the dv9000 series had a built in ir receiver.

    So, which do you like better? The 6000z or 6000t?

    What gave you the headache?

    I had and used the DV6000Z for a whole day. I just didnt find it to be one par with the inel core 2 duo's i've tried. It didnt feel any more peppy than my 2 year old Dell 710m with an intel m proc. so i send her away.

    Got my DV6000t, and i love it.

    I meant the headache will be from Vista....

    I have the 6000z and it performs great...no different from CD2 when running intensive programs in actuality. Comes down to which company you prefer.

    Perhaps HP is locked by terms or something in what they can use with Intel-based notebooks.

    I wouldn't worry too much about the 256 7600 versus the 512 7600. On the 512 the extra 256 is just "turbocache" which is just another way of saying shared memory and it is basically useless. Pretty much I think both of these gpu's will perform about on par with each other.

    If your notebook was dropped off in Indianapolis after being flown from China, then it has to clear customs. This is a normal process since its an International shipment. I recently read a horror story about someone's notebook being stuck in Customs because HP did not file the correct paperwork for it. Don't worry, this is not something that normally happens. It only took a few hours for my notebook to clear when it arrived in the US. But my US drop off point was in Anchorage, Alaska

    Thought I'd interject here and tell you youre not alone I'll be waiting till at least the end of the month. Been lurking around reading and absorbing as much as possible so when I do post I won't have to ask any stupid questions. I was actually just about to ask about the tv tuner as well I've looked around alot and all the descriptions seem to be very vague especially the HP description still dont really get it but maybe some one with more knowledge will reply. My buddy at school told me to get the 256 7600 as well as that is the chipsets "native" capacity. So who knows about these tv tuners can you connect your satellite service to them and watch on the tv and the notebook at the same time with some kind of y adapter I doubt it but its worth asking.

    I'm waiting for my DV2000t I ordered from Costco - mine's also in Indiana in clearance. I called Fedex and they said it's the normal customs route, scheduled to be delivered Monday by 10:30am (I'm in NY).

    I just ordered my dv6000t monday the 19th. As of a few hours ago it got switched to being in production on the status page. Just wondering what kind of timing everyone had on theirs going from ordering to order being dropped to the factory(i think that was the step before being in production) and then in production. Trying to get an idea of how long it is going to take for me to receive it.

    I ordered a dv2000t on feb 7th and it shipped out from china on feb 14th. 7 days later (feb 21st) and my dv2000t is stuck in clearance delay (customs) due to missing paperwork.

    Hopefully you wont run into the same bad luck

    I guess mine was the only "Late shipper". My notebook shipped 1 day later than the projected date. On the flip side, it got to me 2 days earlier than Fedex's projection. maybe I (check that - "I should have" no maybe about it.) ordered the dv9000t.

    I'm think HP should be ship driver to be ready first,specially vista driver [particularly sound driver waikiki,a lot people are use pavilion and they not have to get powerful because HP not plant support sound in dv 2000 ? but,i'm just to buy it pass 1 month and technical support ane not help anything better....boring]

    I know it is an notebook forum but just wanted to say my thoughts.
    I have ordered a HP Pavilion d4790y desktop on feb 1, 2007, but it has been delayed thrice and is now scheduled to ship on March 16, 2007. Can you guys believe that.

    I am frustrated and very upset with the whole scenario. The responses of Hewlett-Packard’s phone customer service have been misguiding and harassing throughout February 1 to present.

    It was very painful and exasperating to be in a limbo, and having no clue of when my product will be arriving. It is nearly a month and I have been receiving umpteen empty promises that my product will be received in week or so. I never expected such irresponsible behavior on part of Hewlett-Packard. In past, I have been using Dell computers and this time I decided to use Hewlett-Packard and I am sad to say that before even using it my experience has been full of disgust and disbelief.

    I have been following your discussions and want some help.
    Can you guys help me deciding what should I do?

    Try to milk some free stuff out of it. Thats all I can say. But not stuff that they'd have to do to the computer since then it would probably take another month. I wish these companies would just make the stuff here in the U.S., then it'd be a lot faster for us, then again... the prices would go up cause they cant pay some 12 year old 5 dollars a day to put it together for us... just kidding, im sure they dont do that, but im also sure its a lot cheaper for them to build it in china than here.

    divinefool, if you aren't needing the laptop, then you should actually be kinda happy. iw ould be if i dont need the laptop. you'll get SO MUCH FREE CRAP if you complain to them. My laptop got delayed TWO days. What did I get? $50 discount off anything I want on the HP home website. Therefore, free carrying bag for me.

    If you got delayed one month, I dont want to imagine what kinda stuff they could give you if you argue and ask to see manager, etc.

    BTW, I didnt even complain. They themselves offered $50 through email straight to me when they told me the laptop had to be delayed.

    Thanks stealthstud and jjtheindianboy!!

    I called them up and argued/yelled/scolded. I got instant $75 credit back; also was promised $50 coupon + $100 credit back on product arrival.
    I just hope I get them, if they promised they should stand by it.

    But yet, a 45 day delay is unheard of in my life. Never gonna use HP again.

    Hello Starfleet Captain!!

    I have asked them the reason of delay 6-7 times in last 25 days and received different replies. They have excuses like "delayed in customs" or "component shortage delay"....... it goes on and on and on.

    I am surprised that HP’s phone customer service had really no idea. They didn't know about the e-mails I got from Ms. Katherine Wapner informing me of ridiculous delays.
    Customer service still kept telling me I will get my PC on Feb 16, even after I had e-mails from Ms. Katherine Wapner that my PC is delayed to Feb 26 and now to March 16.

    This whole scenario is so unbelievable. I can't imagine any company acting in this "ultra-ridiculous" and preposterous way.
    It is so unheard of for me. What do u say?

    When you have a global company like HP, it is common that the right hand doesn't know what its left hand is doing. It seems to me, that HP needs more structure and connectivity. If they were connected, your emails would have had a case number, and when you called Customer Service, All you'd have to do is give them the number. They'd be able to look up the entire incident. Then, its not like they can call China to find out what the delay is. During normal business hours here in America, Its Midnight in China. What I don't understand is, that Most people who order from HP get their PC's in very little time, but You have to wait a month? I guess its a good thing that you got all of the discounts. Another company might not have given you that.

    Anyway, hope you get your notebook soon...

    Mine is delayed 40-45 days. I am so pissed. Some component shortage and
    Chinese new year are their excuses.

    Gah i ordered mine the 19th with an estimated ship date of March 1st and you get yours shipped earlier? Not fair! Probably has to do with the stuff inside being more readily available to them or more commonly together already? what specs? when did you order?

    Also on Dell website I configured a PC/Notebook (around Feb 25) with Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6600 (2.4GHz), it said expect 7-9 days delay. And doesn’t mentions that for lower processors (Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6300 and E6400)

    And E6600 is the processor I ordered and may be causing the delay.

    Divinefool,

    I'm in the same situation you are in. I ordered a d4790y from Compusa (so I could use my Compusa card) on Feb 7th. Was supposed to ship on Feb21st, now Feb 28 (today). I have a feeling that it isn't going to ship today.

    I have a strong suspicion that the problem is the GeForce 7600GT. Both you an I have that in our configuration. If you were to go order a d4790y today, that card is not available - neither is the HD DVD drive.

    In a way, I'm half hoping that it doesn't ship today. Then I'll cancel it and go back to building a homebrew PC myself instead.

    Hey dfinctec!

    Mine is scheduled for March 16 and I have been offered 10% discount over the previously offered credits.

    “Due to the additional delay we would like to offer you a 10% discount off of your custom built computer. Shipping will also be upgraded in order to deliver your PC to you as quickly as possible. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this additional delay has caused. We thank you for your patience.”

    I ordered that desktop for home as I already have a notebook for the office. So I am not in hurry and can wait.
    If you are not in a scurry you may wait and get these discounts ($300 +).
    Nicely configured d4790y desktop is kinda high end and with “delay discounts” will cost you pretty ok. I can give you the e-mail id of the person who mailed me with discounts.
    Well it’s your choice of course.

    Also HP service people gave me a new crap yesterday. The person told me that my delay is due to Chinese New Year, as everything shuts down on this occasion.
    I talked to my Chinese frds here and they told its nothing like that.
    I don’t know what is wrong with HP.

    To everyone who got their notebook/desktop on time or before: congrats and enjoy!!

    Yeah after "order in production" its just shipping.
    But my order status on HP website is "order in production" from Feb 10.
    Though its the last stage but long lasting..huh!!

    Well...CompUSA says mine is delayed until the 13th. (Strange that they told you the 16th). They won't budge on any offers or discounts because of the delay...and couldn't tell me what the delay was. They are just a reseller anyways. So they are going to try to cancel the order.

    Oh well...
