Those of you who ordered from HPShopping.com how long did it take your system to arrive once it actually shipped?

Mine left today, and has a tracking number but no estimated arrival date yet. I didn't realize it was literally coming direct from shanghai.

Have the surge protector and warranty info

Crumpler bag will be here soon

Finally, the system is on it's way. WooT!

Really?!? All the way from China? That's pretty much awesome!

Perhaps I can expect a package on Monday then since mine went out on a Wed.

    This is good news.

Keep in mind that the date shown on the FedEx website is (I'm pretty sure) the local date. And China is a day ahead of us. So whatever day it says it was in Shanghai, it was still a day earlier to us here.

My DV1000 showed arriving in Shanghai on the 18th, but if I'm figuring this correctly, that was the 17th to us here in the States. It sat there for what looked like 2 days but in reality I think it was just FedEx not updating the website. Now, today (the 19th to us) it's in Anchorage and the woman on the phone showed the routing to Indianapolis on its way to me in Seattle (go figure that one!). She told me I may have it tomorrow, the 20th.

Keep checking the tracking number, once it leaves Shanghai it moves quick and it'll probably be here before you know it.

I placed my order for a DV1000 on Saturday, Oct 8th at a Staples. They said the order wouldn't drop until Monday (the 10th). The FedEx agent told me this morning I may get it tomorrow, which is Oct 20th. (I guess we'll see). But from order placement to delivery in 10 days would be pretty amazing.

Mine is mostly for trips too, I love watching movies on planes with it. Especially if you have Netflix or Blockbuster.com, you can just drop the DVD in the mail at your destination airport or nearby, and it's on it's way back before you're even headed home.

    Ok, that's hilarious!

I also purchased primarily for travel/multimedia functionality.

I worked for a major US airline and thus now have permanent flight benefits and am back in school. Made money in the corporate world, was downsized due to 9-11, and am now pursuing my 1st love, education. Specifically, curriculum theory.

Needed a book to do some schoolwork, (Excel, Powerpoint, etc) and watch movies on the many aircraft, and LOVE the built in card reader so I don't have to invest in thousands of dollars of media cards to hold my 18mb native files 'til I return to home base.

Thanks much for the details of your notebooks trip, Togus. I really can't believe how quickly these things are shipping, though the routings do make sense to me. Well, they don't make sense but I "understand" them. Nothing in the airline industry is logical. Not by a longshot.

How do you all feel about your notebooks?

Also a huge netflix enthusiast here. Spend 1hr a day just messing around with my queue. Though I turn my subscription off during football season. lol.

You can buy a niffy little remote control that fits right into the card slot of the Dv4000. Great for watching DVDs, listening to CDs, doing Powerpoint slide shows etc. Costs under 20 bucks.

This is my 2nd DV1000 in less than a year. I absolutely loved my first one, but it got stolen. I shopped around again to see what's changed since last year, but I bought a DV1000 all over again. The mix of features for the price can't be beat, the 14" widescreen is "just right" for me, and I love the QuickPlay. It's perfect on a plane for watching movies. I also got the Bluetooth wireless. In side-by-side comparisons with friends who had other brand computers and other wireless cards, I consistently got better wireless reception than anyone else's.

Mine is still chugging right along. It arrived at Indy at 135am today with the last update saying it was awaiting international shipment release.

I'll be calling off Monday waiting for my package. I once arrived home to find three AlienWare boxes sitting stacked for everyone to see on my front porch.

Not a very smart FedEx guy.

I ordered mine on the 8th from Staples and it actually came on my birthday (the 20th) but no one was here to accept the package so the next day (yesterday) I made sure I was here! :D I'm definitely loving this machine! :hp:

Got my new DV1000 today, and it's just perfect. Ordered it on Saturday the 8th so the order dropped on Monday the 10th. Of course, FedEx attempted delivery on the ONLY day in weeks I planned to not be home, but if I HAD been home, I would have received it on the 21st. That's not too bad, I'd say. In any case, it's in my hot little mitts and up and running on Saturday the 22nd. No bad pixels, no issues at all, it looks perfect. :hp:

Got mine early today and am loving it so far. The various multi-media functions live up to their billing. The 6-1, the remote, the quick play, front facing speakers, all excllent.

I spent much of the day trying to kill all the bloatware which is expected.

However, when I killed all the Norton Internet Security stuff it also killed my ability to connect to my wireless network. It was to the point I had to reinstall all the card drivers before I could get it up and running again.

What sucks is that I did a sys restore before I reinstalled the drivers so the Norton is back. Are the drivers and the Norton tied in or no?

Should I just keep the internet security? I really prefer doing my own stuff there. Anything Symantec is overly bloated and resource hog way beyond reason.

Any tips or suggestions in how to kill all my Norton stuff and keep my connection viable would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered my R4000 on the 20th, it still hasn't shipped yet :(
About how long does that part take? I cant wait to get my hands on
    it, driving me nuts >_<

Seems like such a beautiful notebook too. I hope it will ship sometime towards the end of this week. The HP website(down now it seems) says the expected "BUILD" date is October 31st. I've never ordered a notebook before but this sounds ludicrous to me and I hope it does not take that long just to build or I might just cry. I'll let you guys know when it starts moving, right now I cant even check the status(not that anything is happening).

Anyone else order on the 20th? I figure its taking some time because the order went in over the weekend.

HP changed the web site to say "build date" after they got a lot of feedback/heat from consumers who tracked the initial shipment of Dv4000 with the X700... the shipment got held up in customs for a day waiting for HP to correct some paperwork and people waiting went a bit nuts.

Keep tracking it...you may have it Friday. I don't think HP pays for Saturday delivery, FedEx charges a lot more for that.

They usually go Anchorage to Indianapolis, then truck to Memphis, then to you. Almost everything FedEx goes through Memphis, so if it makes their crack-of-dawn connection from Memphis to your city, you'll get it that day.

    Mine had a build/ship date of 11/7.

    Shipped 11/1.

By the look of things, there's a good chance I may get it before the end of the week. :)

If not, I have to lug around my desktop to the next LAN party...
