I'm wondering if anyone here has ordered a customized PC through HP's website and if it really took 9 business days to build for you.

    anyone? anyone?

    ...Bueller?

Personally I haven't... But as far as build time that sounds correct.. Especially when customizing a pc it can take much longer than that even.. When I was going to customize one from them the ship date was well over 2 weeks from when I would put the order in.. Depending on what parts you put in, it can vary alot. So thats actually relatively quick :).

From looking at the dv5t thread + my own purchase experience. I placed my order in 12-13 days before they gave the package to FedEx. For the same model, other people are getting their notebooks shipped out 6 days after they placed the order. It really depends on random factors that I can't explain.

Doesn't it depend alot on what parts they customize it with??? Sure it might be the same model but it could have different things put in it.. That's the only thing that slowed down my shipping estimate was different add ons.

Yea, I agree. Different components may also be a factor.

I ordered the HP online. Just check the dv5t or dv7t *official* threads. Lots of people mention ordering online and then talk about when their product shipped.

Well...I originally posted a thread with nothing but praise for HP and the way they handled my order, but now...not so much.

I placed an order for a customized 8510p on July 24th. I recieved an Order Request Confirmation right afterwards, but no Order Confirmation. So I waited until the next day, and I called and they said my order was held up in processing, but that they would go ahead and confirm it. So later that day I got an official Order Confirmation.

But even with my order confirmation, I am not able to check on my order status. So two days went by, and I called yesterday to check on the status. I was told it was "Dropped into production", and the nice guy on the phone said he'd email me with updates as its production progresses. But all he did was email me the original order confirmation. So today I am getting a little worried since I'll be leaving town on and off until August 25, at which point I am moving, so I wanted to know when my computer would ship. I could not find any way to find out when it is shipping, so I called again today.

Now they drop the bombshell: They told me there are back ordered parts and that it won't be put together until Aug. 18!? That's a month away. And I was never notified of this, ever. I was under the assumption I would be getting my computer next week. So then the woman on the phone directed me to a link that said my laptop was still in the "Admin/processing" phase of order status. And that same link says my estimated ship date is Aug. 25.

I cannot make heads or tails of this. I'm not even sure if my order went through, since no one can seem to give me a real answer. I'm told different things whenever I call. I was even told any change in ship dates would be brought to my attention, but I've had to call their call centers to get any info at all about my order.

How are you all finding out when your order ships and what the status of it is? Did a ship date come with your order confirmation?

    *edit*
I have another question. Since I won't be living in the apartment where it ships to (my fiance will be living there), is there any signing that has to happen? Because there will be no way I can sign for it, I'll be living 200 miles away. Ugh...this is turning into a little bit of a longer ordeal than I had hoped.

oh that really sucks, are you still able to cancel the order by now? cuz with all that its really a little bit risky. n usually your signature will be required upon receiving.

to me seems canceling the order's the best for now. unless you are moving to some other higher tax rate states..

I also ordered a printer, a warranty, software, and cables for the printer that all shipped last thursday and i got them this monday.

hmmmm...I got nothing like that. I had to call just to get my order confirmation. Was that where your estimated ship date was? I have a Requested Delivery Date, but its only the date after I ordered the computer.

I had to call three times to get an estimated delivery date. And I'm unable to check my Order Status on their website, which they said was a problem with their computer systems on their end. I can get an overview of my order by going through the "Order History" option on their website, though.

I ordered it a week ago today, and it still says its in Admin/Processing. Is this normal? If they are waiting for parts until Aug. 18, is it going to wait until then to go into production? Because whenever i call, they always tell me it has "Dropped into production".

Anyone else think I should cancel? I'm getting this for a really good price, and its the exact laptop I want, but I'm worried something is wrong with my order and that I'm going to be dealing with this for months, at the worst.

Where is your 8510p manufactured? We just received a bunch of them from the Singapore factory.

It depends on which model/configuration you've got, but I believe most if not all US units are from the Shanghai plant.
