Just curious as I just sent mine in two days ago.
What are the true turnaround times?

I sent my old hp in once about 3 years ago. It took about 3weeks to get it back

It took me about 1 week to get my computer back. Too bad they didn't repair it.

Well, I've had 3 HPs in the last 2 years.
The first one went in for repairs 3 seperate times.
The second HP also went in for repairs 3 seperate times.
So far the third HP has not gone in for repairs yet. However, the optical drive needed replaced out of the box. The fan is starting to make random grinding sounds, so it will definitely need to be sent in for repair. I'm just waiting for the sound to become more constant and loud so the repair depot can't say "no problem found".
So far I've had 4 optical drive failures and 2 motherboard failures. Each time the systems were out of my hands for about a week total.
I really don't understand how so many things have gone wrong. The notebooks have done nothing but sit on a desk. I've gotten afraid to use them in any other situation, considering how fragile they are. They sit on a desk and sometimes don't even get used more than an hour a day. Even though I'm on my third replacement now, I still haven't even used any of the systems enough to get a return on my original $1100+ (after taxes) investment.
After this fan goes bad, hopefully soon, I'll send it in for repair then when it comes back I'll try to find somebody to sell it to and make it clear that they can (and should) buy the extended warranty for it. Same with my MacBook. I'll sell that while the buyer still has option to buy AppleCare. Then I'll take the money from both and put it towards a system from a better manufacturer than either. Not that I don't like my MacBook. The first one worked great until the optical drive died (seriously, notebook optical drives are junk). Then Apple replaced that system and the new one has been fantastic. Apple's support just sucks (who closes phone support at 6PM every night? seriously) and they basically wronged every person who bought an iPod game by telling them they have to rebuy them for every new generation. -
probably 2 weeks Mine I sent it for repair they can't fix it so they replace it so I got my new laptop almost a month of waiting because of due process with case manager

With all the problems HP has had lately, I'm thinking of putting my notebook on craiglist as soon as I get it back before it breaks again. Then I will probably go back to Dell. I've owned at least 6 Dell's in the past and none ever broke on me.
Too bad as my current notebook worked well for me the past 8 months and is one of the most attractive notebooks I've owned too. -
I have owned 4 hp notebooks two I sent back with in the 1st week of owning them (9500t and 9700t), my other two zt3000 the hard drive just died, and my zd8000 has worked like a charm for 2 years.
I'm done with HP the quality (build) has gotten cheap. They look and feel like toys now. Any anyone who thinks the dv9700t is an upgrade to the dv9500t needs to take another look. -
I will be selling my notebook when I get it back and go back to Dell.
How many of you have sent your HP in for repairs?
