I have 2 extra high capacity 6-cells (compatible with dv4, dv5, and several other compaq models) that i don't need because hp will be sending me my replacement dv7 soon and they dont fit. i want to sell them but i don't even know what a good asking price would be(hp does not even sell them individually on their website). they've been sitting in my fridge for the last month and have hardly ever been used, one of them i believe is still 100% capacity. any suggestions before i post them to the marketplace?

I think $50-60 sound reasonable.

$40

seriously? the HP website retail price for a normal 6-cell is $130, but they have instant rebates right now so they're on sale for $103... that is for the 45wh version, and they dont even sell the 55wh version(which these are) on their website, but they are a $30 upgrade when purchasing the laptop, which reasonably makes them about $160 retail, or about $130 with the rebate. so you're saying that a fair price for them is around 1/3rd of what you would pay for them brand new? these are comparable to purchasing a car with 200 miles on it.. i was thinking $80. i'd buy one for $80 in a heartbeat if i needed one. i guess the market will tell.

HP's are way too expensive. I had a 6 cell hi capacity for my dv6500 and was not impressed with the battery life on it. I just bought a NEW 8500 mah 12 cell from these guys for 80 bucks (including shipping) http://www.westcoastpower.net/index.html The battery life on it is very good.. over 4 hours. My hi capacity could not even give me two hours new. At anyrate, you can get pretty good "new" batteries anymore. Personally, I would not pay more then 40 dollars for a used HP battery. I've had better luck with third party manufacturers and would rather stay away from the ones made by HP.

Seriously, I found the battery you are selling for $68 brand new, even Amazon has them for $78. OEM HP, not aftermarket, so apples to apples.
If someone wants to buy them from HP for $100, that is their loss.
Since yours are a personal sale and "used", $40 is a fair selling price.
You can ask $80 and maybe you will get a buyer that can't figure out how to search internet for best price. -
Personally? I don't need them, so you'd have to pay me to take them off your hands, and handle the environmental recycling fees! -
How much is High capacity 6-cell battery worth?
