I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dv9700t on September 3rd, 2008. The specs are:
    17" 1440x900
    Intel C2D [email protected]
    4 GB Ram
    250 GB Hard drive
    8400M gs

Just to check, this should last me a good while right? Just because HP doesn't sell it anymore, its not going to be crap right?

well, the Processor is decent but the graphics card is kindof old, and this model (8400M GS) can overheat.

It should last a couple of years but that GPU is very low end and old now, not to mention it may have thermal issues. But besides that, it should be a good machine.

I agree with what's said above. Also though, because of the model you'll be able to add another hard drive later if the one you have starts to get a little too full for your liking. It'd owe me some 20GB of Data is my drive was that small :p

I don't game on it. PS3 is for that, and even then, I don't have much time to game with school and such.

Be careful with the GPU. I had one and the GPU fried. Luckily i was able to do a switcheroo with another before HP stopped selling them.
