How much longer do you think HP will sell the dv9700's?

Quick question, like the title says...How much longer do you think they will be selling the dv9700 on the HP website? Anyone remember how long after HP redesigned a series, did they continue selling the older.

I'll be surprised if it is around much longer, as the dv9700z was taken down a week or so ago. They are just running the parts out so it can be pulled from the site.

Usually the Compaq line kept the older models around for months and sometimes recycled them with different names (ie. V5000T to C500T), but even that didn't happen this time. The C700T was pulled immediately and replaced with an all-new CQ50Z.

I'd guess that it is solely based on parts inventory. There is little point to keeping an old model in the lineup that would have to be sold at a greatly reduced price, as it would just tear into the division's profit margin.

Yeah, it looks like your right... I noticed that options have been fluctuating a lot on the dv9700's in the past week.

I think once they introduce, the AMD version of the DV7 the DV7z series, which should be in the beginning of September.

They must have a huge surplus of parts, they are not even discounting them any. Why would people buy them instead of the dv7, unless of course you want a cheap basic $899 system
