Is there a usual day of week or any "normal" schedule they make changes to the promotions on HPShopping.com? I've been watching the freebies for the DV1000 and they're OK now, but nothing special. And I haven't noticed them change for a week or two. Just wondering how frequently they change?

In my limited experience following the HP Shopping site pretty closely since June, changes usually show up on Sundays, often toward the end of the month.... but I've found them a bit unpredictable on this point.

I did the same thing looking for dv1000 specials, I would say they are very unpredictable but just togus said they seem to start on Sundays.
It seems that if you price them out with the same options with each offer it usally comes out very similar. Hopefully you can get some rebates and maybe a free briteview upgrade and if your lucky a free battery. Check out the Staples in store rebates I know there is a post here about a deal but not sure if its still available.

They got a special at Staples right now, ends Oct 8. You get a $50 mail in rebate plus $250 off instantly when you customize a DV1000. This only works at their stores, not their website. Shipping is free and you get the free 6 cell battery and brightview upgrade.

I think Staples has a pretty good in-store warrenty program as well...not as good as Sam's Club (which blew me away in terms of the extent of coverage and the low cost), but still attractive.

I second the staples suggestion. I ordered a dv1000 last monday and received the build to order unit 9 days later. After the $50 rebate the price came to $860 plus tax.
    Sale ends saturday night.

    1.73 cpu
    80gb 5400 rpm drive
    1 stick 512mg
    wireless and bluetooth
    dual layer dvd
    free second battery and brightview.

make sure you start your configuration with the celeron unit. Build from there. The brightview is free on the celeron but $50 on the centrino......but as I said you can build up the celeron up to centrino. I spent an hour in the store because the computer kept charging me shipping and they didn't know how to code the instant rebate.

This coupon says "Minimum purchase requirement of $150 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies.". But the deal going on now has a $100 price reduction and a $150 instant rebate. So I think this coupon will not work?

Hey Newz, did the price come out different if you built up from Celeron to what you wanted-- compared to building up starting from the Centrino?

All I know is that the computer wanted to charge me for brightview when I tried to configure the centrino. I suggest you try to configure it both ways. Also notice one stick of 512 megs of memory is free but two 256 megs is 50 bucks. Makes no sense.

I bit the bullet and went ahead and bought my 2nd DV1000. Didn't get quite the killer deal that you did, newz. I think you got an extra $100 more off than you should have, because the discount at register is supposed to be $150. The other $100 is already reflected in the price their kiosk comes up with, but I suspect your store manager overrode it and took it off again. Unfortunately, my store manager figured it out.

Thank you rahulnirmal for the $30 discount coupon. It wasn't really valid with the instant savings I was already getting, but the store manager didn't read the coupon (was I gonna tell him? Hell no....!), so he over-rode it and applied it for me anyway.

Here's what my new little baby is going to look like:

    1.60 Ghz Centrino
    60gb 5400 rpm drive
    Free brightview upgrade
1 stick 512mg- free upgrade to one chip instead of 2
    wireless and bluetooth
    DVD-CD/RW combo
    12 Cell battery
    remote control
ear bud w/ inline volume control for $1.00

Cost before tax: $878 - $50 mail in rebate = $828. not a bad deal at all!!

Even paying the 8.8% WA sales tax, I saved $125 over even the EPP pricing on HPShopping.com. Works for me!
