Credential manager doesn't automatically load anymore and I do not see any options to auto-enable it to load on startup. Anyone know how to do that?

Start->Run->type msconfig...then look in there for the HP Credential Manager (or something along those lines). You probably have that disabled in there; find it, check it, reboot and you're good.

Thanks. I did do that a few times and I never see the HP Credential stuff in there, I was so confused, but I'll look again. There are some blank lines though...Oh well. If i can't get it I'll just re-install it. Thanks again.

Cool...when I get home I'll look at my nc8430 and figure out how to disable/enable it too. Just in case msconfig doesn't have it.

You might want to re-install it. It was in msconfig when I initially got the notebook. I've got it uninstalled right now, but I can re-install it if you need any help.

Thanks man. I think I will just re-install it. I looked in every option and setting in the credential manager itself and it isn't in the msconfig for me. Eh, I'm still do for a format, I never did one in the beginning, need an external floppy since I am lazy...Thanks.

I am having the same problem as well. Did you ever find a fix for this? I do not have any install disks with me as i am travelling without disks for several months. Any ideas?

Nope. I even reinstalled the Credential Manager. I guess you could try reinstalling the entire HP Security Package...As far as you not having recovery disks, don't you have a recovery partition? Unless you deleted it, you won't need disks.

yes, in the options uncheck "Use Credential Manager to Log Onto Windows" and you should be using the normal windows login screen and it will tell you when to swipe your finger

for me it's not a checkbox, it's three radio buttons.

the other two options are use the welcome screen and use the classic prompt.

if i use the classic prompt, i can only enter a password.. i don't see any way of checking fingerprints. if i use the welcome screen with fast user switching, i can get the fingerprint scanning, but that looks even worse than just using the credential manager logon.

    did i miss something else?
