I have a Compaq V6000t laptop that I am trying to prepare to sell (since I recently bought a new laptop.) So I want to restore the system partition to the way it originally came.

But when I first got it I reinstalled Windows Vista with a standard OEM disk using the key off the bottom of the laptop but I left the recovery partition intact. The recovery partition is still there but I can't boot off of it! Is there an easy way to do this? Any advice appreciated - thanks!

Update the BIOS and when you boot hit F11 and it should boot into the recovery partition.

use the recovery disc's that you made when you received the notebook and do a factory install.

Use for instance "Acronis Disc Director Suite" to set the recoverypartition as "active". Then you'll be able to start the recoveryprocess by pressing F11.
