Its better to download the latest version of the driver from the NVIDIA website, since HP may not have the latest one. If you want to download some modded drivers, you can also check out www.tweaksrus.com and www.laptopvideo2go.com.

I think you'll find the drivers directly from Nvidia won't work. I think they have an agreement with HP wherein only drivers provided HP will work. You're welcome to try, but I think you'll be disappointed.

You are exactly correct on that and this is the same case with the dv8000t series laptops. For some stupid reason HP has decided to release custom special drivers that will ONLY work on thier laptops versus the stock vanilla drivers from Nvidia... I could never understand why the hell they chose to do this...

Jetstar's reply was correct. You CAN use the latest Nvidia drivers, however, Nvidia doesn't include the necessary information in their .inf files to recognize mobile graphics adapters. Go to http://www.laptopvideo2.go for replacement inf files that recognize your graphics adapter. These work well if you follow the directions.

Those drivers cant possibily secure the warranty though... I believe it goes against the warranty to use any foreign drivers....

    Hmmm LMAO
The warranty is usually only for the manufacturer defect in the hardware NOT software! If your laptop starts acting funny with your new modded drivers,,you can always uninstall them or format your computer and pretend like it just crashed on you! lol They dont give a **** about software failures...

Dont worry, drivers are not such a big issue. If you reformat to the factory state before sening it to warranty service they wont even know what drivers you were using. In any case the LV2go drivers are pretty safe since they only modify the inf file which contains the list of supported devices. The rest of the actual drivers are the original from Nvidia.
