Has anyone done it yet or know how to?
Thanks.

google mail forwarding usa... I use myus.com, works well. What it does is it gives you a US address to ship too, and then ships it to Canada.
-
I emailed HP asking them when the Envy 14 will be up for sale on their site, hopefully I'll get a response in the next few days. I think I would rather wait a bit to buy it via the Canadian site for warranty reason or just in case I need to replace\exchange it.

I would love to know about this as well. I currently have an m11x on order, but I saw this a few days ago and think this might be a better choice. Although the m11x is nice as small hmmm....

How about 3rd Party retailers. Any selling the 14" yet?
Does HP accept PayPal or anything? -
last time i paid hp with paypal, they lost my order and refused to refund me for over a month, then denied that i ever paid
what hell that was, and they were rude to boot -
calling the credit card company does NOT work. it needs to be a US credit card along with a US billing address.
i asked HP my self, i said my card has the US address but it is a BDA card, they said they cannot take orders like that.
i was going to use a mail forwarding thing. Unless my card was wrong when they entered my address, or HP was wrong, its not possible. -
I'm in the same boat, trying to get one from Canada. I think I will wait 1 week or so, see if any coupons come up, maybe a review or two, or new Bing cashback (doubt it).
If no new deals come up, I will use an Amerifriend (I think he qualifies for student discount), and get him to use his US credit card with student discount to ship to a 3rd party forwarding address or a PO box in Buffalo or something. -
I ordered my Envy 14 yesterday.
What I did was got it shipped to my friends house who is going to UPS it to me. All in all it costs an extra 100$ and an extra 3 days untill I get it. Still worth it. -
i was wrong. my bank called me today to say they mispelled some junk. so you CAN get a mail forwarding service as long as the names and everything are matched up on the card.
idk what hp reps were talking about. as usual they know nothing. -
I would love to know as well. I hope HP puts it on the website soon.
I just hope for the love of god, we don't get bent over with extra markup just because they can.
If they HONESTLY put the same price as the us + currency difference, they will most likely get my money. -
considering envy 15s go for like 2000ish @ best buy, dont hold your breath on HP not marking things up to the nth degree
-
Canada always gets shafted with laptops from HP. We pay more for the basic features and often don't have the ability to customize anything. Amazon.ca is listing the Envy 14 at a very marked up price and without the higher res screen. I'm waiting for it to be listed on the HP Canada website, but I'm already expecting an inferior product at a higher price.
-
I am also not going to give up the 1 year warranty to buy from us. Totally BS, here we are as customers ready to pay good amount of money which is not little for their product but just like everyone else they screw the Canadians.
I just checked the future shop one vs the us hp one, the EXACT same specs came to under $1390 (including currency difference) on us, but they sell it for $1900 here which is more then $500 markup.
SCREW YOU HP, I guess won't get my money. -
we need a north american dollar, dontcha think?
-
HP does accept PayPal... Just a thought....
-
last time i tried that was a nightmare
had a US billing, but my account was canadian. they didnt realize at first, then cancelled my order on me; but didnt refund it, and when i called, said they didnt have my money
what a nightmare getting that back
if you use paypal, make sure you register your account as US based, and get it verified / confirmed shipping to avoid any hassles -
Maybe I'll wait a couple weeks to see what 3rd party retailers pop up with the 14" -
Hey guys. I am also a Canadian very interested in purchasing the Envy 14. It does seem like Canada gets the shaft in terms of selection and price of HP computers. What makes it even more galling is that the former Voodoo Envy was originally a Canadian brand.
Anyway, I have been considering the logistics of ordering one from the united states. The main concerns are the actual purchase/importing and warranty.
With respect to warranty, I found this tidbit on the HP website that seems to indicate HP offers a Global Warranty on most products.
"Most HP products sold on or after 2nd August 1999 are provided with Global Warranty cover. HP can provide warranty service on your product in any country where we have a service presence (either provided by HP directly, or via HP accredited Service Providers) - currently this amounts to approximately 150 countries worldwide."
HP warranty - frequently asked questions (section 2)
I have emailed an HP rep to confirm this, although lord knows how knowledgeable they are... Can anyone here clarify HP's warranty policies?
Assuming the warranty is valid in Canada, I am considering using a relative with a U.S. credit card billing address and either try a mail forwarding company or have it delivered to a UPS store near the border (I'm in Toronto).
Anyway, I will be interested to see how you guys go about getting your Envys. Any tips from someone experienced with ordering/importing from the U.S. would also be appreciated. -
Well why dont you just move to the US for a couple weeks? :rolleyes2:
-
Lol, sure, I'll just have them deliver it to the Holiday Inn in Buffalo!
-
i get my stuff sent to buffalo...
-
Where in buffalo?
-
Best Buy Canada seems to have in stock...At an expensive price and not configurable:
HP Envy 13.1" Laptop featuring Intel Core 2 Duo Processor SL9400 (13-1030CA) - Silver - Best Buy Canada
EDIT: Lvivkse's right. My bad. How could I missed that? -

Canada gets nothing from hp. We still have the 4830 Hp envy 15 at 2199.99 and the 13 inch for 2099.99. Hp needs to get their heads out of there .
-
and they wonder why apple is taking away so much market share

well you're in toronto, so the buffalo option exists for ya

I emailed HP Canada again to see if I could get any news on the HP 14 having a BTO option from their site. I still can't believe the Amazon.ca price for the Envy 14 is correct, especially for the specs listed. I did see the Envy 14 listed on Futureshop's site the other day but it also had the i5-430m listed along with the 1366x769 screen but it's not there any more.
-
Just got this email from HP Canada, I'm not to pleased with this...
-
So the Envy 14 has finally showed up on HP.ca... but at the moment it's a bit disappointing. There's no price listed, just a coming soon but they do link to a PDF spec sheet which seems to match up with what Amazon.ca is listing.
So to me it seems HP is screwing up the Envy 14 in Canada by only offering it with an i5-430m and the lower 1366x768 screen. An SSD drive isn't even listed. I'm hoping this is the spec sheet for this one model and am hoping they will offer this in other configurations but looking at how they are listing the Envy 13 and 15 it doesn't look likely.
It looks like this will be officially "out" come July 12 so I'm hoping things change. Otherwise I'll have to look into getting a US model or going back to looking at the Dell XPS 16 or hoping that Asus will come out with something appealing. This all seems kind of stupid when I think about it. I want to buy this laptop but I can't, at least in the setup I'd like - seems like it shouldn't be so hard.
I just don't get why HP doesn't offer BTO options in Canada, especially when it comes to "premium" products. -

Are you able to access and view the HP laptops for sale on eBay offered by US sellers? Unfortunately, I believe it is only quickship models and refurbished CTO products on there.
If someone were to buy a new CTO Envy with the specific configurations you are looking for and sell it on eBay factory sealed would that work? What do you think would be a reasonable markup? Unless it was completed really quickly, I don't think you could make the 21-day period to return product to HP if it was defective, but the warranty should still be valid. -
I previously tried to order from the hp us store online using a us shipping address close to the border and paypal... It was automatically cancelled and took many hours on the phone to ensure they weren't still taking my money as shown on paypal. I was told by one of the people on the phone the system won't allow for a non us billing address whatsoever, even thru trying it thru paypal... The only thing I have left to try is getting one of those us debit cards with the visa logo from a us bank... It apparently works where u need to enter a credit card info but only for the amt u put in the bank like a debit card. U can get on for free at us bank ( not bank of America). I believe u can use the banks address for statements ( thus the us billing address) and then go online for paperless option. U can't get a us credit card without a us sin number

i was at best buy today and spoke with a guy that worked at hp. he didnt seem very knowledgeable, but told me that the envy 14 and 17 is in canada right now, some stores have advanced shipments. he told me that he was just at a best buy in scarbourough that had the 14 so, it could be true. if you dont mind the extra price it might be worth it.

I've been stalking the Envy 14 since it was announced, and it has been very dissapointing (money wise)
HP ENVY 14-1050ca Notebook-Canada - French localization - HP Shopping.CA
The price for an Envy 14 according to this link by HP is 1599.99 canadian $!!! This is such a rip-off! Sure, they have upgraded to an i5-430M, 6 gb RAM, and 640 GB hard drive but the starting price is ridiculous. I cud live wit 320 gb hard drive and 4 gb ram. I hope they change this soon. -
-
The one directly from HP Canada (and the one i was talking about) does have the higher res 1600x900p display. They shud hav included the i5 450M atleast. Its not even configurable on their website.
I guess I'll have to wait for Asus's new laptop series too. I think one of them has specs similar to an envy 14's. The VAIO Z is too expensive for me -
looks like it's available at futureshop here for $1699. kinda disappointing considering it's $600 more than the base US model and doesn't have radiance
. But I suppose it can price matched to ~$1450 and you can return it within 14 days
-
I'm only seeing it with the 1366x768 screen - HP ENVY 14-1050ca Notebook-Canada - French localization - HP Shopping.CA -
Just FYI you can get a non-neutered Envy 17 (17-1090CA) for cheaper than a neutered Envy 14 by getting FS to pricematch -10% the price from tigerdirect.
1739 - 173.90 = $1565.10
That looks awfully tempting...of course it's too damn big to be portable.
____________________________________________________________
What I'd like to see is a review on the 1368x768 screen. If it's not outstanding, I'll probably save $600 and buy the 3820TG with a big SSD. -
-
Ncix.com has it on sale this week for 1499.99CDN
-
Not sure how reliable this is but:
This guy on eBay
will apparently get a customized one for a reasonable price and shipping to canada is pretty reasonable (25.97)
It's probably much more of a hassle than the americans and we get no discounts but better than being ripped off by canadian retailers/HP -
FYI, 15" Envy (i7) is $1299 at Costco.ca
-
The eBay guy told me he would ship the product with all the original documentation. And he assured me that i would be able to RMA the product or return it to him if i needed to. I also checked for applied duty to the laptop, there is none apparently. He seems to have a good rep on eBay. Should I trust him and purchase the E14 from him? -
Also, he's apparently sold 9.
