What is the procedure to hook up the notebook to a LCD TV?
Both the notebook and TV have the S-Video.
I hooked it up via S-Video and matched the input and nothing happened.
I want to look at some photo's on the big screen.

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but I'd like to know about connecting to an LCD TV via HDMI-HDMI to watch DivX movies. Is it a hassle to set this up in the drivers? Or do you just plug it in and it works? My TV is HD 720p - how do I scale down the resolution of the output from my 1280x800 screen?

To output on s-video, you will have to select that device on your notebook. This is generally accomplished by going to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced, and then finding some sort of tab to select your output device. Some notebooks also come with display management software. If your notebook has a "Fn" key in the bottom left, then try something like Fn+F7 to bring it up. It is typically different based on both manufacturer and graphics card type.

I got it to work on my 50" LCD TV :)
I simply went into the Display properties and double click on the #2 square box. #1 square box was the notebook.

S-Video choose f4 for external output. If you cycle you can also see the image on the laptop and the TV at the same time.

All you do is double-click the #2 box.

    The resolution is 1024x768

I'm surprised how sharp the photos are on the 50" screen!

Can this laptop do 1280x720p or 1280x768p thru VGA/HDMI?

My notebook doesn't have HDMI hookup... I'm gonna make a separate post on how to add it.

I registered an account here just to thank you for this. I found this thread through a google search. I just bought a new TV for the purpose of hooking up my computer to it, and we followed the directions and it just didn't work. The thing I had to look for, for anyone else doing this, is that the "screen" or "output" needed to be changed to "Monitor" instead of "Notebook." So just follow the directions from Msiner, and you go from there.

    Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
