We have 2 HP laptops, both running 64-bit Windows 7. One's a dv7t-3000 the other's a dv7t-4000. I made recovery disks for both but stupidly didn't label the disks themselves-instead I put them into separate, labeled, envelopes. Then we moved. During the move it appears the disks were dumped into a single envelope labeled 'recovery disks' so now I don't know which disks belong to which computer. Does it matter?

If it does, is there any way I can reset Recovery Disk Creator to make new sets? Both PC's are OK including the Recovery Partition but I don't want to rely on the partition-I want disks I can reload from if I have to replace the hard drive.

Alternatively, is there a way to identify which set goes with which laptop? I can identify the sets because they're on different brands of disks. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I believe you can see the creation date from the disc properties? Older set would belong for the older laptop. Maybe. :)

Disc Creator should be able to reset but how to do that differs from software version to another. Extensive googling might help, perhaps a call to support too.

Creation date doesn't help-at least not that I can see. They're very close-like within the same month yet the laptops were bought a year apart. But they don't match the file dates in the recovery partitions either-which leaves me very confused. I'll try HP support but I'm doubtful-the instructions are very clear that you're only allowed to make one set of recovery disks. But maybe they can tell me how to identify which is which. Thanks.
