Thanks! By the way, I do have windows7 DVD, can I just simply copy all the files on this DVD to a USB drive from other machine, and then boot from USB drive and install from there?

You'd still have to make the DVD an ISO file on your hard drive, you can use the original DVD if you want to go that route, and save 3GB of bandwidth; although the USB download tool seems to be picky in what it wants to work with, at least in the few cases I've used it, it would copy to 99% and then say the image can't be used.

You can't just copy the files over unless the USB drive is already bootable. There are MANY ways to make a USB bootable with Win 7 on it. You could follow my instructions here without creating an ISO http://forum.notebookreview.com/mic...-7-onto-bootable-usb-drive-2.html#post6395632 just substitute Windows 7 disk where the instructions call for Gateway disk.

If you wish to download an ISO or create a bootable ISO from your disk with software you may already have you could use the Microsoft Tool for creating the USB as mentioned.

Most people know about the tool just not exactly how to use it even though the instructions are linked to. First the OP didn't have an ISO file, he had a Windows 7 DVD. You cannot use the Download Tool with a DVD you must have an ISO.

You would be amazed at how few people know how to make a bootable ISO from a DVD or have the correct software installed on their computer to do it. From reading post after post of failures most people make the wrong type of ISO and the tool throws out an error. Of course people can still download the ISO, the links are even on the Windows 7 forum, but still they get it wrong or cannot seem to make a universal install disk with all versions accessible from a menu.

I am glad the OP got his problem solved and thanks for posting.
