    How to make timeout for display off work with media center running?

    Question 1:
    In the power saver settings I have set the display to off after 5 mins (even tried with 1 min to see if it is working) of no activity.

    It works OK only if Windows media player or Windows media center is not running (playing music).

    Can I make the system turn off display on its own even when these apps are running playing music?

    Question 2:

    Can I off the display whenever I want to off it without using power saver setting?

    I know I can set the display to off by closing the laptop lid or putting it closed enough to off the display, but I don't want to do that.

    I would like my notebook to off its display whenever I want it to without having to close the lid. Is it possible?
