It’s been almost a week since I got my HP HDX 16t with the NVidia 9600M GT GPU and I can’t find a way to overclock the GPU.

I installed Riva Tuner 2.22 and EVGA Precision 1.4.0, and I upgraded the driver to DOX’s 181.20.

Still no luck. When I increase the clock speeds in Riva Tuner it goes back to standard settings right away which are 400/800/400.

    I have the BIOS F13A.

Has anybody figured out how to overclock the HDX 16t?
What difference have you noticed in your score in 3DMark06?

This is weird. I have installed the Nvidia System Tools 6.03 and all of a sudden magically Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision have started working.

Using Riva Tuner I can overclock the HDX 16T up to 575/1150/540. Anything over that and the screen starts going all crazy on me, and occasionally the whole system freezes.

However, the NVidia Control Panel of Nvidia System Tools 6.03 is set to 660/1350/580.

Riva Tuner shows the GPU clocks at exactly 575/1150/540.

Even if I overclocked to 580 or higher Core Clock, the GPU clock reading stays constant at 575 Mhz.

Can’t figure out what the deal is but I need to overclock more to reach at least the performance of my previous XPS M1530 with the 8600M GT.

What happened with the M1530, did it blow up? :D
Besides, I don't think you will manage it because DDR3 memory really makes a big difference.

    Not yet…
It got temperatures around 88 – 89 at max performance while scoring 5750 in 3DMark 06 but it held up all right.

Those 3DMark 06 scores seem like a dream with the 9600M GT in my HDX 16t.

I changed the driver to Dox’s new 181.22. Maybe that would help…

By the way, does anybody know if the HDX 16t support DDR3 RAM?

Nice job, you almost beat a 9600M GT DDR3 on default clocks.

Do you mean system RAM? I don't think that will help you very much. If I were you I would try first to overclock the VRAM as much as possible, because the VRAM is the bottleneck on your 9600M GT DDR2.
