Hey all,
I just got the new late 2011 HP envy 15 with Li-ion battery.
I'm a student and have my laptop near an outlet 90% of the time.
On top of that my laptop on and connected to the outlet about 16 hours a day.
My old dell had a slide out battery which I removed while plugged in to preserve the battery life however with the HP this appears not possible since the battery is not a slide out version.
Considering that I'm using it 16-18 hours a day is there anything that I can do to keep using my battery as long as possible? Should I continue to recycle the charge? SHould I leave it pluggged in?
I don't know how the HP works and if when the battery is 100% charged the current doesn't flow through it anymore etc.
I looked at the manuals and documentation but found nothing related to this.
Any help or direction would be most appreciated.
Thank you

You seemed to have created two posts of the same subject. Oppps.

Batteries are not as dumb as they used to be and we do know that the max capacity will reduce with time. You have two choices with the Envy 15
- Leave it plugged in and use the machine and don't worry about the battery
- Un-plug the charger and use the battery down until 7% ish, charge. Repeat
Ideally an 8460p would offer you the best battery options for 16-18 hour work days so maybe have a look when you come to buy another laptop.
Other than that there's not much else to say.
How to prolong total battery life for Envy 15?
