I know the process is pretty straight forward but does any one know of a good how-to for this? I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. I am picking up an external enclosure shortly. Pretty much any one should work as long as it matches the size, right?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

you pretty much just slide the drive in, close the enclosure and plug it in

When you take the drive out of your notebook, you have to remove the bracket from the hard drive. The bracket is what keeps the drive tightly fitted inside of your notebook and can be removed by unscrewing the two screws on each side of the drive. Once you do that it should be able to fit. If it does not then you will also have to remove the extended converter which is the little black thing with gold prongs. You just give that a good pull and it comes off.

Also, make sure you get a sata 2.5" hdd enclosure. Your hp hard drive will not work in an IDE enclosure.
