Replacing the hard disk with an SSD shouldn't void your warranty, and it's relatively easy to do. Simply remove the bottom cover by sliding the cover switch, lift the cover away from the unit, remove the HDD from the caddy and replace it with the SSD, mount everything back to where it should be, and you're good to go.

Why don't you call HP to ask if it will void your warranty, they have a help line open 24/7... will be much more of a confirmation than someones opinion over a web forum.

The Envy 14 hard disk is an end-user replaceable part, says so in the manual, so it will not void your warranty. Just create your recovery disks, take the old hard disk out, pop your new one in and run the disks.

The detailed instructions are in the manual that came on the little SD card with your laptop, but it's really one of the simplest component changes I've ever done, and you should be able to figure it out yourself anyway.
