Hi, I tried to beam a file(less than 50kb) from my handphone. I aligned the phone's IR port and the DV7's IR port(just beside the microphone jack).. But I get no response from the DV7..

    How to activate it? Thanks..

I believe the infrared on these HP notebooks are just for the media remote control and not for file transfers. I'm not entirely sure as I have not tried using it for file transfer on my HP's port, but there is no software for it, so I guess it is just for the remote?

You need a software that is compatible with the dv7 IR port/drivers.

If your handphone comes with software then try installing that.

Been a year since the DV7 is released..
No one bother about the infrared port, whether it can receive files or send out files.. Infrared is soooo slow for big files(this I know)..

I must still be living in the dark old age of MS-DOS..

the ir ports has been on there laptops for more than a year, no one bothers with them because of bluetooth, most cell phones have it and its real fast.
