Hi all, first post here![]()
I am currently in Thailand and I wanted to buy the HP PAvillion DV2109tx
"Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0GHz, 4MB L2, FSB 667GHz)
Intel 945GM Express chipset
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG Network Connection
Memory 1024MB DDR2 667 (512MBx2DIMM), 120GB Hard Drive 5400rpm (Serial ATA)
Optical Drive DVD+/-RW Drive (Super Multi DVD Writer Dual format, Double Layer) Light Scribe
Digital Media Slot "5-in-1 Media Reader
SD (SDIO), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, XD
( Support of 16MB to 512MB memory cards for XD)"
Display "14.0"" WXGA (1280 x 768) High-definition BrightView LCD panel,
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200 with 128MB of Turbocache Video Memory"
Although this is a great spec notebook, the part I am concern with is the Geforce Go 7200. Having not bought a new laptop for sometimes, how well does the Gefore Go 7200 perform on HP system with newer games? Also what does it mean by turbocache Video Memory?
-
It is a lower end card. Something like the 7600 go or x1600 will run newer games better.
-
Its a shame how this is a new released laptop but they have chosen an old lower end card on a laptop pricing somewhat towards high-end
-
It's not an old card, it's just a lower-performance one. That card is fast enough for everyone except gamers. My parents or brother wouldn't know what to do with a video card that fast

My HP is coming with the GeForce Go 7400. How well is that one, and do all the Go video cards come with TurboCache? Because the description of mine doesn't mention the TurboCache, but when I check on the Nvidia site it lists the cards as TurboCache.

The 7400 and below use TurboCache. Anything above that doesn't. They can also have dedicated memory as well as TurboCache. Lots of different configurations.
The 7400 isn't a bad card. It won't run FEAR at high resolution with full effects, but it won't go slow. It'll play any game that's not brand-new at a very acceptable rate. -
how would you guys say that card (the 128mb 7200) matches up to an 128mb ati mobility radeon x700??? Becuase now i have an HP dv4000 with that ati card and i think its a good enough card for my occasional gaming (fable, kotor 2, age of empires 3, and others)... but i was thinking of getting the smaller/lighter dv2000 now with the geforce go 7200, but i'm not sure i would want to if i couldn't play the games i have with the same or better graphic settings. thanks in advance.
How well does Geforce Go 7200 perform in HP dv2xxx system?
