    Hi,

My problem is that my 2530p won't come back from sleep mode; the screen stays black.

As seen in this thread, http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service...47626+1239719541625+28353475&threadId=1306843
    this is a known problem.

It seems that switching from IDE to AHCI will do the trick, but I have no idea how to do that without causing an other problem. I use vista.

Any idea? I would like it better if there was an easier way to solve my problem.

    Thank you!

The option should be in the BIOS, and in fact it should actually be set to AHCI from the factory. But i think the HP BIOS does not have that option. FYI, it happens on my dv9700 too, but i don't really care. I use hibernate. :)

I just select that option in the bios and that's it?

What option are you talking about? There's not that much in the HP BIOS. :p

That i said already does not exist... Because it is set to AHCI by default. There's something else that's causing the black screen. I'd suspect the video driver. My dv9700 does resume from standby correctly if woken up after a couple minutes... Any longer and the screen will either remain blank or display a BSOD, in the famous "broken-in-4-parts" image common on 8400m and 8600m graphics chips. I haven't been able to read the BSOD entirely due to the distorted image, but i'm pretty sure it reads "nvlddmkm.sys".

But your notebook has Intel graphics, am i correct? I still believe it's the video driver anyway.

Oups. Excuse me, I tought you said it existed. EDIT : It does exist

Yes it does have intel graphics; I'll try to update it.

As for AHCI, the people in the HP forum seem to think it's the problem but idk either.

You can do the following test. Try and boot a retail XP SP2 disc. If it says it cannot detect the hard drive then it is set to AHCI. XP SP2 and earlier required integration of SATA drivers to the CD before they could recognize a drive configured in AHCI mode.

I just found out that there is actually an option in HP bios to set it to AHCI. Now it's set to IDE by default.
I didn't change it because I'll try a bios update this weekend; found out there is a specific fix for my problem.

Well that certainly is not the case with my DV9000, as it hibernates just fine but the video driver crashes if i try to use sleep.
