Last year I recieved a HP 530 for a graduation present. Over the first year the LCD went up and the battery went bad. Luckily it happened just before the warranty ended. I got all of that fixed and the technician tried to get them to replace the DC port as well with no luck.

Now, several months later, the plastic casing on the computer has cracked where the AC port is, and the a small piece of it around the DC port broke off. For that reason the AC adaptor won't properly stay plugged in and charge the computer correctly and due to that the AC port seems to have gotten loose.

My question is is it possible to replace the DC Port and/or the plastic casing? And are these and batteries going bad common problems?

You can replace the power jack if you can find the correct replacement, feel that you are competent enough to take apart your notebook, and if you have good soldering skills and the right soldering equipment. You can also look around on eBay for a replacement bottom chassis. I haven't heard of laptop batteries dying in less than a year, but maybe it was defective or something.
