1/ I am new to this forum. I have just updated the new bios for my HP 8510w. My graphic card is ATI FireGL Mobility V5600 with the most updated driver. After the update, the problem is that when I lower the resolution the screen completely rescales to a smaller one with the black blackground. It seems that I am stuck with the max resolution 1920-1200.

I could not restore the bios update as it seems to solve several problems with my system. How can I change the resolution without rescaling the screen?

2/ Additionally, I use a Toshiba LCD 37 inc as an external monitor. I could use the resolution 1280-1024 to fit the full screen with my previous VAIO laptop. With HP 8510w laptop, I am not be able to configure Catalyst to do the same thing. What should I do?

I'm not quite sure I understand the first problem, but the second one seems odd. I also use an external, and using the Catalyst Control Panel I am able to individually set the resolutions of my laptop and external monitor.

However, to use different resolutions I can't have both monitors output the desktop (ie same output, but different resolution). One has to be set to extended desktop for it to work. Not much help I know :\
