I think that HP will keep the option for Core Duo on the 2000t, but they will probably let you upgrade to Core 2 Duo.

Yeah, the wait is over. d2000t is customizable with T5600 and T7200 processors, too.

They don't show it yet on the Pavilion side-by-side overview
but it's offered once you start customizing a dv2000t

Yes, since it's on the way out, with the dv9000 series replacing it and all.

    Edit:

And ooooh, the dv9000t has an optional 512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600 graphics card...

    *sigh*

Looks like I'll have to save money for about 5 months to be able to get the config of a dv9000t I'd want...

    *cries*

    I want one now!!

    :p

I've been waiting for the Core 2 Duo for a couple of weeks already and I've played so much with the HP website that I knew by heart the price of my DV2000t. It was $1300.60 with the T2500 (2.0Ghz). Today when I configured the same laptop but with the T7200 Core 2 Duo (2Ghz), it all comes out to $1353.98 so I don't think there is a big price increase.
I'm placing my order tonight. :)

Is it worth it to get the 2.0Ghz instead of the 1.83Ghz?

Also I can't order my laptop until sept19, would it be likely that HP will run out of Meroms? I'm really worried :(

Yes, the clock speed is bit higher and most importantly it has double the cache!

So, you returning your old one?
Yes, there is a little difference.
I have also been tracking the price.

For dv2000t, to upgrade from T1350 to a 1.8GHz, it costs $20 more now than a month ago.
For v3000t, to upgrade from T1350 to a 2.0GHz, it costs $75 more now than a month ago.

For dv2000t, to upgrade from T1350 to a 1.8GHz, it costs $45 more now than a month ago.
For v3000t, to upgrade from T1350 to a 2.0GHz, it costs $70 more now than a month ago.

The dv2000t has less increase than the v3000t.
Note, the higher increase for the 2.0GHz is due to the fact that the 2.0GHz T7200 is currently the top of the line option while a month ago there was a 2.16Hz T2600.
The wholesale price from Intel for the same clock speed model is the same for Core Duo and Core 2 Duo, and Dell is also charging the same upgrade price for same clock speed.
    hp is very tricky here.
They don't have Core Duo and Core 2 Duo listed for the same clock speed.
So, they take advantage of the new CPU release and effectively increased the price a bit.

I already did that 2 weeks ago with the hope that the Core 2 Duo would be release soon. I guess I was right. :)
As for the prices, yes they increased but no for that much as many people is saying. If anything at all, it's the prices for the Core Duo that drop a lot.

I notice that also. The T2500 (2.0 Ghz) is not available anymore. Now it's the T7200 with the same clock speed.

This coupon Chiaroscurist mentioned... is it in addition to the $100 instant savings and $50 mail-in rebate? I'm about to buy one, and that would be a sweet deal--make up for the core 2 upgrade.

    Thanks

so from my understanding, the non-brightview option is now availiable, which means it is a matte screen? i wonder how nice the matte will turn out to be.

oh btw, i'm new here and i'm upgrading from a Pentium III 800 mHz desktop beast. i think a core2duo will be a slight improvement on that.
