    HI

I have a Hp Compaq nc8430 Lapton and I am trying to reformat it. The c drive is partioned into to drives C, D (D is a recovery thing or something).

I boot up form the cd but then as it scans my system it just freezes at random parts every time. Sometimes loading the Plug and Play driver and sometimes other random stuff.

Once it said the file acpi.sys is corupted.

A few times it finised loading but then it sayed Setup didn't find any hard drives installed on your system..

I tried the recovery thing and this happened. "Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD. "

    What do I do???

If you are really frustrated you can use killdisk (let it kill 3% and then reinstall you just need to kill the partition table - note : back up all your data before doing so or...)
You can try knoppix liveCD and use QtParted and this stuff.
Also you can use Ultimate Boot CD and then use FDISK.
