I own a Hp DV6t Special Edition (3000 series from last year) and am about to run out of warranty on them ( 2 months left). During the second month of owning the thing, i dropped a book on it spine first, causing a small dent on the lid. Is it possible to have this covered under the warranty if i say it was like that when i got it?
Thats not the only issues with it however. It's trackpad is not seated properly and has shifted to the extreme left in its place, leaving a wide crack on the right for gunk to get into. One of the keys on the keyboard is also clicking loudly when pressed. The fan is also causing a lot of noise.
Basically, there are a lot of hardware problems that i think i can get covered under the warranty and i just want to know if there is ANY way for them to somehow also replace the lid.
Lastly, if Hp deems the product void of warranty because of the dent, will they still do the other hardware repairs and send me the bill? I dont want to be suckered into a huge repair cost.
Please help me!
Thanks

I'd call customer service first, but your reasons seem valid. You shouldn't have a problem.

What does hp actually do when you send your machine for repair? Like i spoke to the customer rep on the hp online chat and didnt have any trouble convincing them to take the machine to repair all the things i said were wrong.
But do the hp guys perform tests to diagnose issues first or do they just repair w.e. the customer rep says is being requested by the customer. For example, when i told the rep about my heating issue, he said they will replace the motherboard. Now will they first wait and diagnose the heating problem, or just replace the motherboard as soon as they get the machine for repair? The heating is sporratic and not always present so i really want to know what procedure the repair ppl follow? Has anyone been charged without their knowledge for the repair costs when you were supposedly under warranty?
