I just recieved my laptop 2 days ago and love pretty much everything about it (except for the lack of a backlit keyboard, but hey what're you gonna do?), but I was just wondering if anyone else's laptop's webcam seemed a little grainy for what's touted as an HD webcam. It isn't awful by any means, but it definitely doesn't seem HD. Is this something that maybe wrong with my specific system? Also the software that came preloaded on my machine was Cyberlink YouCam 3.5 (which I assume is the same with everyone else) and it doesn't even show any picture when I open it...

    Adjust the resolution on YouCam.

That fixed the problem for me :)

honestly truevision HD webcam is utterly rubbish. I cant record HD720p with it. THe framerate is really slow. Btw, mine is dead after a week and HP can't replace it :( because they dont want to.
Spend another $35 and get logitech C510. That will do.

I find that hard to believe. When a part is broken they can't refuse to fix it if you have a warranty.

When did you buy this? If it was within 21 days you return it.

You should be able to mail it to HP USA. HP Australia can refuse to fix it if it was not purchased in Australia, but HP USA cannot. Of course, the shipping cost might actually be higher than buying an external cam.
