Recently, my laptop started the notorious "fan/buzzing" noiise very loudly. Tried updating the BIOS but to no avail. The only solution i found online was disabling the computer C4, and that only works in BIOS for intel processors and my computer is AMD.

Anyway, the loud noise was becoming more and more annoying. Until like 2 days ago when it seems to vanish completely, nothing at all.

I was so happy, until today, when I am using my pc and all of a sudden it powers off, not shutdown but powers off. I turned it on again, and ran all my programs simultenously to see if if i stretch it, it would go off, i didn't go off when all the programs ran. And the fan didn't come on!!! i had 2 games, 2 media players and about 7 misc programs running.

Then it powered off, i noticed that the back of the laptop is very very hot smells like something is about to burn.. Called HP, im out of warranty. no help :(

Can someone help me or tell me what the problem is? I'm thinking maybe the fan failed, hence no more loud fan noise, and the system is powering off cos the core is getting too hot?

Is that it? but if that is the case wont it go into shutdown mode and NOT POWERING OFF????????????/

    HELP!! please

You need to search for those, or take it to a professional computer shop.

You can get the service guide from hp.com. Go to the downloads page for your notebook and click the Manuals link on the left-hand side. As for getting a replacement, worst case you should be able to get one from http://partsurfer.hp.com but eBay is often useful. Probably worth paying for a new one rather than used though.
