I was recently running my Hp Dv9000z that i've had for about a year and it crashed. The screen seemed to freeze for a moment showing pixelated colors and then when i would try to restart the computer it remained silent and the screen would stay black. The only things that seemed to respond were the media and power button lights. I tried removing the battery and powering on with the ac adapter, and I wasn't sure about re-seating the ram as i didnt want to void the warranty, so i called Hp and luckily i still had the 1 year warranty. I've already sent it in for repair, but I'm curious what might be wrong with the hardware.

It might be your motherboard. Older HP's with the AMD cpu's have an extended warranty becuase the motherboards used for the AMD chips were not built to the highest of quality. and parts on the laptop would stop working. you can google hp amd wireless issue and see the many complaints.
