    Hi,

I was trying to install HP updates yesterday and there was an insyde bios upgrade which the HP software prompted me to install.

As I accepted the license terms of the Insyde Bios. All the programs started closing and there was a dump. The PC never started after that.

When I try to power on the power led won't glow. Any help is appreciated

    Thanks,
    Sam

Get on the phone with HP ASAP!

On the bright side, your hard drive is likely to be unaffected.

You better ask HP if you could remove your HD before you send it in cause they will wipe it clean, even if you ask them not to. I would never update BIOS because HP Software Update prompted me to. Always check online manually to see if it matches your system.

That is such a bummer. Make sure to take lots of pictures of your system before sending it in for repair. But hopefully HP has a BIOS recovery fix that doesn't require you to send it in.

I would think these new systems would have automatic BIOS recovery, usually these new mothersboards, at least the ones I've seen on desktop ones have 2 BIOS, one for backup.

Goodluck and let us know what happens.

Dual BIOS on a notebook? You must be dreaming. :) For HP (and any other laptop manufacturer) it's all about maximizing profit. ;)
